We know that your telephone number is critical to your business and to your life. That's why it's our goal when you port in or port out your number to keep any service interruption or down time to a minimum. Heck, we do our darndest to make sure it's nonexistent! Minimizing downtime when porting in
When porting a number to NumberBarn or NumberGarage from another carrier there are two key factors you will want to consider:
- Keep your service active with your current carrier until you are 100% that porting has completed. Be sure to test both calling and text messaging before you cancel your service with that carrier.
- Configure your call forwarding and other settings before porting completes. Whether you are using call forwarding or more advanced call settings through NumberGarage, be sure to set this up right away so it will work the moment porting completes. Minimizing downtime when porting out
When porting a number away from NumberBarn or NumberGarage to another carrier, our advice is similar to the above. Here are the two things to consider:
- Keep your service active with NumberBarn or NumberGarage until porting completes. Make extra sure that calling and texting are working with your new service provider before you cancel your service with us. In fact, we make it easy on you. Once we detect that your number has ported away, we cancel your service for you and stop charging your credit card.
- Configure your call and text settings ahead of time. By doing this, if porting to a mobile carrier, your mobile device should start working properly, the moment porting completes. Or if you are porting to a VoIP provider and replicating call forwarding settings, you should see almost no interruption in your calling.
