How to Enable SMS Email Notifications
- Login to your account
- Select Numbers
- Select on your number
- Select the Messages tab below your number
- Locate Email my messages and toggle it On:
- Toggle Forward text to email to On to forward your text messages to email.
- Be sure to enter one or two email addresses in the Email all messages to section. You can only enter one email address per text box provided for a total of two email addresses.
- Save your changes
Note: be sure to click "Activate SMS" if you want both text messages and voicemails to be forwarded to your email. If your SMS is not activated, only voicemails will be sent to your email. Our voicemail feature is only available on the Forward and Unlimited plans.
Setting up the email address to receive messages
Enter the email address you would like to receive the forwarded SMS messages to the right of the label "Email all messages to".
If you would like to add an additional email to receive the messages, select the +Add button to reveal a second field for an email address.
Don't forget to select the Save Changes button.

Mobile Pop-Up Notifications
You can customize settings on your SmartPhone to alert you with a pop-up when an SMS notification is received. Here's how:
Add "email@example.com" as a VIP in Apple Mail. Instructions on this process can be found here. That way, when you receive an SMS email notification, a custom alert will display on your phone to let you know a message is waiting. Sounds can also be added. Note messages must be in your Inbox, not a separate box, for notifications to arrive.
Set up VIP notifications in the Email app to let you know when "firstname.lastname@example.org" has delivered a fresh SMS your way. Instructions on this process can be found here.
Create a VIP Label in Gmail to filter messages from "email@example.com" to your Inbox. You can also customize a sound to let you know a message is waiting. Detailed instructions on this process can be found here.

Can I send SMS notifications to the text messaging email address with my mobile carrier?
As you may know, mobile carriers provide an email address where you can send an email and convert it to a text message. Here's the format for popular carriers:
- Verizon is [MOBILENUMBER]@vtext.com.
- T-Mobile is [MOBILENUMBER]@tmomail.net
- AT&T is [MOBILENUMBER]@txt.att.net
Virgin Mobile is [MOBILENUMBER]@vmobl.com
Sprint is [MOBILENUMBER]@messaging.sprintpcs.com
Tracfone is [MOBILENUMBER]@mmst5.tracfone.com
Ting is [MOBILENUMBER]@message.ting.com
Boost Mobile is [MOBILENUMBER]@myboostmobile.com
U.S. Cellular is [MOBILENUMBER]@email.uscc.net
Metro PCS is [MOBILENUMBER]@mymetropcs.com
You might ask if your text messages can be forwarded to this number. The short answer is "No" we cannot forward your text messages in this way.
This will effectively send you a text message to let you know that you have a new text message to your NumberBarn number. You can then either go to your NumberBarn account or the mobile application to read and respond to the message. You may also be able to read the message with certain carriers, but in our experience, the formatting is a bit tricky to read.
