In this article:
You can customize your outgoing voicemail message by uploading an audio file, or by recording your new message directly over the phone.
From within your account:
- Select Numbers from the navigation bar
- Select your number
- Select the Voicemail/Messages tab
- Locate the audio player labeled My Voicemail Message
- Click the Change button
Options available:
- Upload an mp3 or wav file
- How to record a greeting by phone
- How to record a greeting from your computer
Your outgoing voicemail message can be up to 2 minutes in length.
My voicemail keeps reverting back to the default message.
If you are having trouble saving your custom greeting and ...
- ... you're recording them locally and uploading a file in your control panel, the audio file format may not be supported. Double-check if it is mp3 or wav.
- ... you're recording over the phone, try recording your greeting again and stay on the line until you receive confirmation it is saved.

Why do I see a message that says "Other feature settings are controlling voicemail function?
If you are seeing this message pictured below when going to your "Messages" tab. There's a good explanation for this.
Normally you would see a dropdown that appears as follows in a NumberBarn account:
The reason for this is that you are likely forwarding calls to a User or Group, and in this case, you need to configure your voicemail settings for that particular user. To do so in your NumberGarage account:
- Mouse over Account
- Click on Users
- Click on the appropriate user and make the edits to their voicemail settings
