Vanity Spelling

Out with the old “Nickname” and in with the new “Vanity Spelling.” As a current vendor in the marketplace, you may already understand navigating the “Nickname” option under your numbers page to attach a vanity spelling to your number listing. 

As the nickname field previously existed outside of your vendor dashboard, we have recently published the new and improved “Vanity Spelling” field and moved it into your Vendor Dashboard. “Nickname” will remain a way to nickname your number in your main numbers page such as “Portly the Pig’s Number.” 

However, perhaps you are trying to sell Portly’s number and want to list it as well since it spells (760) 444-4PIG. You now have the opportunity to set the vanity spelling of “PIG” and still have this number nicknamed, keeping the two designators separate.

If you wish to tie a valid vanity spelling to your number listing: 

1. Go to the “Sell” tab within your NumberBarn account. 
2. Then go to the "Numbers" tab within your Vendor Dashboard to view all the active numbers available for listing.

• In the “Vanity Spelling” field, enter in a valid vanity spelling with up to two hyphens in the position of your choosing. (Keep in mind our system will automatically input hyphens between a number and letter.)
• Click the green "Save" button to the right.

Here are the parameters for Vanity Spellings found in the ? icon:

• All submitted number spellings must be reviewed and approved before they will appear in our search results. This process may take up to two business days.
• Letters / spelling must match the digits in your number (e.g. need 2276 to spell "BARN")
• You may add a hyphen to separate words. The maximum is two hyphens. (e.g. I-LIKE-CANDY)
• Hyphens will automatically be added between letter and number boundaries (e.g. 8584323PIG will get turned into (858) 4323-PIG)
• If the spelling isn't in the area code (also known as NPA), parenthesis will be added around it (e.g. SANTACLAUS won't turn into (SAN) TACLAUS but, 858432MAXX will display as (858) 432-MAXX.
• Only letters a-z and hyphens can be submitted. Special characters are not allowed.
