You contacted your new carrier and asked them to port away your phone number, but you still haven't received a status update from NumberBarn. You're probably wondering, "What's going on? When is my number porting to my new carrier?"
First, it's important to keep in mind that all NumberBarn numbers are classified as wireline/landline. While wireless-to-wireless transfers are required by the FCC to happen within 24 hours (usually in just a few minutes), wireline transfers usually take between 3 and 10 business days. It can also take up to 3 business days for our system to receive a port-out request. You'll receive an automated email when that occurs.
This article goes into more detail about what the port-out process looks like from the customer side:
How do I know my number is porting away?
Once you receive the Transfer Away Processing email, you can contact your new carrier to confirm the date your number will port away. This is also referred to as an FOC or Firm Order Commit Date.
We will send you an email with the subject line Transfer Away when the port completes.
Signs Your Port-Away Request is Still Pending
- When you log into your account, you still see your phone number under the Numbers tab.
- You received the Transfer Away Processing email but not the Transfer Away email.
- Inbound calls to your number still show up in the Call Logs tab of your account.
