Porting your number to Cricket Wireless is tricky, but not impossible, and there's a reasonable explanation for this. You see, NumberBarn numbers are classified as landline or wireline and Cricket Wireless will ONLY accept wireless numbers.
In this article, we'll tell you how to convert your number from wireline to wireless so Cricket Wireless will accept it.
Porting to a wireless carrier
First, you'll need to acquire a wireless carrier SIM Card. The most cost-effective wireless carrier we've found is Ting Mobile. There are a few different ways to get Ting Mobile GSM SIM cards:
- They are available locally (Best Buy, Target, Walmart, etc.) for approximately $5 to $10.
- Amazon has them as well.
- Direct purchase from Ting Mobile online is another option but may take 3-5 business days for shipping.
Check Ting Rates here. We recommend the single line at $6. Keep in mind that Cricket will send a call and text for verification. This will count as 1 or 2 minutes falling into Ting’s 1-100 usage minutes for an additional charge of $3.
Whether you are porting to Ting or another mobile carrier, you will want to have your porting away information handy to initiate the porting request. Here's an article specifically about porting to Ting.
