Caller Display Suffix

Hey W Schulz, thank you for posting this. I wish we had the surefire way to show you the caller's number and the number they dialed. If and when we offer inbound calling in our mobile application, we may be able to support something like this.

Your best option is to use our NumberBarn Business Line plan and set calls to forward to a Group. With Groups you can use our "Whisper" feature which allows you to play a custom recording when you answer the call. So in your callerID you see the caller's number and then when you answer the call you can hear a prompt that says "ACME" and then either hang up or press 1 to accept the call. You can get started here:

I too have run into this issue, and being able to receive calls via the app would solve many requests/issues being reported.

As for having a prefix/suffix to the number calling in, why would this be a problem? Spammers are constantly altering their caller id with their outbound calls. So it should be technically possible to have something like - "ACME: John Smith (808) 555-1234", no?

    Jeremy Watkin,

How did I become the OP for this thread?

W Schulz I'm honestly not sure what happened here. Hopefully there's not a bug with the Zendesk community software. Are you positive you weren't the OP?

Regarding your other comment, you're absolutely right. Receiving inbound calls in the app would give us more flexibility with callerID. I don't have an ETA for this but we're definitely considering and discussing it.

    Jeremy Watkin,

It definitely had someone's else name on it before I made the comment. Why would I start by saying "I too have run into this issue". Maybe that user is no longer here or active. After I posted my initial comment, it put me as the OP.

W Schulz that's certainly possible and strange that Zendesk attributed the comment to you.

Honestly, as I age I would probably go comment on my own post as if I was seeing it for the first time. But that's probably just me :)
