the "about tablet" tab in settings says it's running android 16.  It doesn't say "about phone", I suppose, because this tablet doesn't have a sim card, so it's not a phone.  I had thought that's probably why the numberbarn app doesn't work on it, but you guys have told me more than once that it shouldn't make a difference.  so please keep trying and keep me informed of whatever you find out.  thanks.

Thanks JudithMeyers. I'm sorry it's still not working. I think there's a way to manually load the app file on your tablet and bypass the Play store. I'm checking to see if that's an option.

JudithMeyers, I can send you a link to the APK file if you want to load that on your tablet. Let me know if you want to try that.

It worked!  I was able to install the app and successfully send and receive a text on the tablet.  thanks.

I wonder, is there any way I can stay signed on to the app so I don't have to type in my email and password every time?  thanks again.

I've restarted the tablet and I was still signed in to numberbarn when it started up again.  so hopefully I'll stay signed in.  it makes a HUGE difference for me to be able to send texts on the good-size tablet using a bluetooth keyboard and mouse.  thank you guys again and again so much for sticking with it and coming up with a solution for me.

newly adventurous on account of the success with the tablet, I just installed an android emulator on my secondary windows laptop..  didn't want it on my main laptop because  the emulator really slows things down a lot. But I was able to download and run the numberbarn app from the google play store and send a text.   so i now have the app on 2 devices with keyboard and mouse.  not quite as fast and seamless as it used to be when I could text directly from my account with the main laptop, but very good indeed.  thanks!!!

Hey JudithMeyers, I'm so glad this worked for you. One thing to keep in mind is that you won't get automatic updates for the app as we release new versions. So keep me posted if anything stops working at any point and I can get a new apk for you as we release new versions of our app. I'm guessing that might be once or twice a year at most.

yes, thank you, I was wondering about updates.  If it's only once or twice a year, maybe you can just send me a link if you happen to remember.  thanks.  if I'm not the only person with a similar issue, and if it doesn't violate any regulations, contracts or protocols, is it possible for you to post updated links on the NB web site so anyone who needs it can just download the update there?

i understand that it's generally considered safest to download apps from the google play store, but in my case it just wasn't possible.  I've been with NB long enough to absolutely trust a link directly from you.  I may not be the only one who needs it

Hey JudithMeyers, we really try to channel customers to the Play Store. That said, if other customers have the same issue we can send them the file to load the app manually.
