💡 What is it?
Text Messaging is an optional feature that can be activated on eligible local phone numbers for an additional monthly fee.
The cost of text messaging is separate from your phone number plan and is billed per phone number with text messaging enabled.
⚙️ How it works
Monthly Text Messaging Fee
Text messaging can be activated for:
- Local phone numbers
- Any eligible NumberBarn plan
Once activated, an additional charge of:
$1.00 per month, per phone number
will be added to your monthly bill.
This fee allows the number to send and receive personal (P2P) text messages through the NumberBarn mobile app.

Billing by Phone Number
The text messaging fee applies to each phone number individually. Only numbers with text messaging activated are charged the monthly text messaging fee.

| 1 number with text messaging | $1/month |
| 3 numbers with text messaging | $3/month |
| 10 numbers with text messaging | $10/month |
Deactivating Text Messaging
Text messaging can be deactivated at any time.
Once deactivated:
- Future monthly text messaging charges stop
- Existing messages remain available in your account
- Text messaging functionality is removed from that phone number
No refunds or prorated credits are provided for partial billing periods.

📌 Things to Know
Existing Customers Before August 1, 2025
Customers who previously had inbound only text messaging enabled before August 1, 2025 may continue receiving inbound text messages without activating paid outbound messaging.
If outbound messaging is activated:
- The $1 monthly text messaging fee will apply
- The number will be converted to the current text messaging system
- The number cannot return to inbound only status
Reactivating Within the Same Month
If text messaging is:
- Activated
- Deactivated
- Reactivated during the same billing month
you will not be charged multiple text messaging fees for that same month.
The original $1 monthly charge continues to cover the entire billing period.
Additional Charges May Apply
The text messaging fee is separate from:
- Your monthly phone number plan fee
- Phone number licensing fees (if applicable)
- Applicable taxes and regulatory fees
Your total monthly cost may include all applicable charges.
