In most cases, porting a number away to a new service provider will require an account number and PIN. Not all phone numbers will have an account number and PIN, however.
You can get the porting away information for any active number from within your online account 24/7.
This information must be provided to your new service provider upon submission of the port request. It must match exactly what you have listed in your account with us in order for the request to be approved.
We set a default PIN automatically. However, if you'd prefer, you can change that PIN to something new.
This PIN will override the account default PIN. The change to the PIN will only happen on the phone number you are modifying.
If no custom PIN is set, the account default PIN will be used.
If you'd like to create a custom PIN for your phone number, follow these instructions:
- Log in to your account
- Select Numbers from the navigation bar
- Select on your number
- Click the Port Out tab
- Click Customize PIN
- Add a valid pin that is between 9-16 characters and can contain both numbers and upper and lower case letters.
- Save your changes.
Note your new PIN cannot be “123456789” or “000000000" and it must be 9-16 digits in length. If you enter these into the text box, the Save Changes option will remain grayed out.
Once changed, your PIN number is updated instantly. You can now submit your port to your new provider.
