💡 What is it?
Letting a customer use a phone number you own for a recurring fee, instead of or alongside selling it outright. You keep ownership, the licensee gets use of the number while they pay the licensing fee.
⚙️ How it works
Eligible Numbers
Any number can be licensed, including toll-free numbers, which can only be licensed, never sold outright.
Setting License Fees
Set an optional one-time activation fee, a required monthly fee, and an optional annual percentage increase. A number can be listed for license alongside a sale price at the same time, a customer sees both options and chooses.
License Terms
- A license runs month to month with no minimum term and no contract. Licensed numbers can be held by the licensee for as long as they choose, only the licensee can end a license, never you, the licensor.
- This is part of the Marketplace Broker Terms both parties agree to.
Ways a license can end:
- The licensee cancels it.
- The licensee closes their NumberBarn account.
- The licensee's account becomes inactive, which ends the license automatically.
What happens in your account when a license ends:
The number becomes active in your account again, on whatever plan it was on before the license started, so billing resumes if that plan carries a fee. The listing itself ended when the license began, so you'll need to create a new listing if you want the number listed for sale or license again.
📌 Things to Know
- A monthly license fee is required to offer a number for license at all, and must be at least $9.95, up to $7,500. If you also set a one time activation fee, it must be at least $9.95, up to $2,000. An annual fee increase, if used, can run from 0 up to 50 percent.
- A number can be listed for sale, license, and offers all at once. Licensing is independent from Selling, Offers, and Pig Pick.
