For both the authorization call and text, they will come through immediately to the phone number you are porting to NumberBarn or NumberGarage when you click the button in your control panel.
Therefore if you do not receive a call or text right away, for any reason, then not to worry you still have another option. The call or text is not permitted by all carriers and therefore, we always have option 2, submit a Letter of Authorization (LOA), and Copy of Bill (COB) to complete the authorization.
In order to start your port/transfer, you will need to verify that you own your phone number by authorizing your transfer request. We offer three options for authorizing:
Letter of Authorization (LOA) and Copy of Bill (COB)
- Login to your account
- Select Numbers from the navigation bar
- Select the Upload COB button below your phone number port under Option 2.
You will be prompted to upload a recent copy of bill dated within the last 30 business days from your current service provider. Should you not have a copy of bill available, a screenshot of your online account showing your name, number, and account information will be acceptable.
Please Note: These authorization options do not replace the need to provide us with the current account details for your phone number. We will still be required to submit your contact details and account information from your current carrier.
Porting in a Canadian Number?
In addition to a text message from NumberBarn, if you are porting in a Canadian number, please be aware that your current carrier, the losing carrier, is likely going to send you a text message to approve the port request. You will need to approve that before you can port the number to NumberBarn.
In some cases, customers have been able to contact their carrier to bypass this requirement. This does mean that you will need to be able to receive text messages at your number to port your number.
