Learn more about authorizing your port request at the 3:47 mark in the above video
In order to start your port/transfer, you will need to verify that you own your phone number by authorizing your transfer request. We offer three options for authorizing*:
*Important: If you are scheduling your port-in request for a specific date, do not authorize your request via call/text, this will expedite your port-in request meaning your number would transfer into your NumberBarn account sooner than your desired port-in date. Instead, you should authorize your request via LOA/COB
Authorization Call
- Login to your account
- Select Numbers from the navigation bar
- Select the Call Me button
This will place a call to your phone number being transferred. Answer and we read you a 4-digit code. Enter the code in the space provided in your account. You can initiate this call at any time. If you are unable to complete the call at the time of sign up, simply log out and log back in at a more convenient time. Do not cancel.
Authorization Text
- Login to your account
- Select Numbers from the navigation bar
- Select the Text Me button
This will send a text to your phone number being transferred. The text will contain a 4-digit code. Enter the code in the space provided in your account. You can initiate this text at any time. If you are unable to complete this at the time of sign up, simply log out and log back in at a more convenient time. Do not cancel.
I did not receive the call or text?
I don't see an option to authorize by text
If you are porting a landline number to NumberBarn, you will not have the option to authorize by text. This is due to the fact that most landline/wireline numbers do not have text messaging enabled, or if they do, it has been enabled without the authorization of the account holder.
Letter of Authorization (LOA) and Copy of Bill (COB)
- Login to your account
- Select Numbers from the navigation bar
- Click the Upload COB button below your phone number port under Option 2.
- You will be prompted to submit a copy of a telephone bill dated within the last 30 days from your current service provider. Should you not have a copy of bill available, a screenshot of your online account showing your name, number and account information will be acceptable.
- Click the checkbox next to your contact information.
- Click Submit at the bottom of the page
Don't have a scanner? No problem. You can take pictures of a paper bill with your cell phone camera and upload those.
Please Note: These authorization options do not replace the need to provide us with the current account details for your phone number. We will still be required to submit your contact details and account information from your current carrier.
Note: While the video above only mentions NumberBarn, this information also applies equally to NumberGarage port in requests.
