Group text messaging is only partially supported on NumberBarn numbers. While you may be able to participate in some group conversations, results can vary depending on the carriers and phone number types involved in the group message.
🧪 Symptoms
You may experience one or more of the following:
- A group text message is received, but replies are inconsistent.
- Some participants receive messages while others do not.
- A group conversation works with certain phone numbers but not others.
- A group text thread appears but cannot be opened.
- Messages arrive as separate conversations instead of a single group thread.
- You are unable to create a new group text conversation from the NumberBarn app.
🛠 Fix Steps
Understand Current Group Messaging Support
NumberBarn currently supports:
- Receiving supported group text conversations
- Replying to supported group text conversations
- Viewing group participants in the mobile app
NumberBarn does not currently support:
- Creating new group text conversations from the NumberBarn app
Check the Group Size
Group text conversations support up to 10 total participants, including your NumberBarn number.
Groups with more than 10 participants may not function correctly.
Consider Carrier Differences
NumberBarn phone numbers are classified as wireline numbers.
Group messaging behavior can vary depending on:
- The wireless carrier used by other participants
- The messaging platform being used
- Whether participants are using wireless or wireline numbers
- How the originating carrier processes group messaging
Because group messaging standards are not handled identically across carriers, delivery and conversation behavior may vary.
Use the Mobile App
The best group messaging experience is available through the NumberBarn mobile app.
While group messages can be viewed in a web browser, participant details and message attribution may be more difficult to follow.
📨 Escalation
Reach out to support if:
- A group conversation with 10 or fewer participants cannot be opened.
- You previously participated in a group conversation that has stopped working.
- Messages are not being delivered consistently within a supported group thread.
If your workflow depends heavily on creating and managing group text conversations, consider using a dedicated messaging platform such as String.
