π‘ What is it?
As a telecommunications service provider, NumberBarn services are subject to taxes and regulatory fees as mandated by federal, state, and local governments.
Learn how to estimate the taxes and fees for your account, how to view the taxes and fees you've already paid, and what tax exemptions may apply to 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations.
Taxes and fees for NumberBarn services may include:
- The Federal Universal Service Fund (FUSF) fee imposed by the FCC
-
The Federal Cost Recovery Charge covers the cost associated with federal and state regulatory compliance. Components of the Federal Cost Recovery Charge include:
- Federal Regulatory Fee
- Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS) Fee
- North American Numbering Plan Fee
- Support for Local Number Portability Administration.
- City, county, and/or state sales tax
- e911 fee - learn more about e911 and why you may be subject to this fee.
These charges are subject to change from time to time as the cost of these programs and the associated governmental fees change. These taxes and fees will differ based on factors including:
- The particular zip code or postal cost you reside in. Different counties, states, and cities require different taxes, etc.
- Our system will allow you to submit your 9-digit zip code, which, in some cases, might subject you to a different set of taxes than a 5-digit zip code.
- The nature of the service you are using. For example, accounts with two-way communication may have different taxes and fees than the NumberBarn Park plan or set up fees.
βοΈ How it works
Buying A Number
- When you purchase a number, you will see a total cost for the purchase price of the phone number. Our "Port Away" plan is free and therefore has no additional taxes if your number ports away from NumberBarn to another carrier or provider within 30 days of purchase. (Phone numbers that haven't ported away within 30 days will automatically convert to the Park plan.)
- When switching to the Park plan or purchasing a number with a Forwarding, Unlimited, or Business Line plan, your bill will note any additional fees and taxes at the time of checkout, as well as on your monthly bill.
Paying a Recurring Service Plan
- Your monthly bill will reflect:
- Your monthly plan cost
- Any additional per-minute charges you've accrued outside of your allotted plan minutes
- Federal Universal Service Fund fee and Federal Cost Recovery Charge fees applied as an itemized percentage of the total bill (see below)
- Though these federal fees fluctuate, most invoices will reflect fees of approximately 5.85% of your total bill for FUSF fees and approximately 10.85% FCRC charges (see example below).
- Additional County, State or City Taxes will be reflected on your bill.
- You can view your monthly taxes and fees under "Billing" / "Taxes and Fees" at anytime within your account.
π Things to Know
