π‘ What is it?
Porting a number is the process of transferring your phone number from your current carrier to NumberBarn. The amount of time it takes can vary depending on the type of number being transferred and your current carrier.
Most ports are completed within 3β10 business days, though some carriers may take longer. Weekends and holidays are not included in these estimates.
βοΈ How it works
Typical Porting Timeframes
These timelines begin once your port request has been successfully submitted to your current carrier.
- Wireless numbers: Typically complete in 3 business days
- Landline numbers from major carriers: Usually complete in 7 business days
- Numbers from smaller carriers: May take 10β20 business days
If a Port Request is Rejected
If your current carrier rejects the port request, corrections may need to be made and the request resubmitted.
- The porting timeline typically starts over
- Additional delays may occur depending on how quickly updates are completed
- Weβll notify you if any action is needed on your end

π Things to Know
Business Days Only
- Porting timelines are calculated using business days only.
- Weekends and holidays are not included.
Expedited Ports
- Weβre unable to expedite port requests with other carriers. However, submitting accurate account information can help avoid delays and keep the process moving as efficiently as possible.
Keep Your Current Service Active
- Your phone service with your current provider must remain active during the entire porting process.
- Do not cancel your service until your number has successfully ported to NumberBarn and you have received confirmation from us by email.
Please note:
- NumberBarn does not cancel service with your previous provider
- You are responsible for contacting your carrier to cancel service after the port is complete
- Some carriers may automatically cancel service once the number ports out, so itβs always best to confirm with your current provider
Scheduling a Port for a Specific Date
- Need your number to transfer on a specific day? In some cases, we can schedule your port using a Firm Order Commitment (FOC) date.
- Requests must be made at least 5β10 business days in advance and are subject to approval by your current carrier.
