At NumberBarn, we're passionate about phone numbers because we know there's a beautiful person, idea, or story behind every one. Your life is tied to your phone number. That's why we take reports of phone numbers being stolen, transferred without permission, and used fraudulently so seriously.
A Little Background on Porting
We do everything we can to make sure our customers only port in phone numbers they actually own. In order to port your number into NumberBarn, a person needs to:
- Know your account information with your current provider, including your name, service address, account number, and PIN; and
- Be able to answer a phone call or text to your phone number or provide us a copy of your latest bill along with a signed letter of authorization
We send this information to your carrier, and your carrier only approves the port if it matches what they have in the system.
How to Recover a Number After an Unauthorized Port
If someone still manages to port your number without your permission, you'll need to contact your carrier who approved the port. Ask them to perform a dispute to get the number back.
As much as we want to help, FCC rules prevent NumberBarn from discussing private account information from anyone but the account holder unless we receive a dispute through the proper channels.
