You submit a port out request and the provider tells you, “Heads up! We’re waiting on NumberBarn or NumberGarage to release our number”.
You say, “Come on, what gives? Why aren’t you releasing my number yet? Please release my number ASAP!”
When a port request is submitted it can take up to 3 business days before we receive it. The reason for this is that there are often multiple companies and third parties involved in the porting process.
If you don’t have an update in about 3 business days, reach out to your new service provider, as well as to our customer support team to look into it. We may be able to detect if there was a rejection somewhere in the middle of the process, or in some cases, see if there's a specific porting date for the number.
If you are porting to a specific carrier, be sure to look in our help center for advice on porting to that carrier. We've written articles with helpful advice on porting to many popular carriers:
Can you expedite my port-out request?
Trust us! If we could wave a magic wand we would, but we don’t currently possess one so we cannot expedite your port request. We'll definitely email you once the port request is approved letting you know that it has been approved.
Your new service provider will have the actual scheduled date that it will port over to their system. This date might be between 3 and 7 business days sometimes up to 10 business days from the date of approval. Once your number does port away from us, we’ll remove it from your account to stop the billing.
