💡 What is it?
Porting away is the process of transferring your phone number from NumberBarn to another carrier or service provider.
The amount of time it takes depends on:
- The type of number being transferred
- The gaining/new carrier
- Whether the request is submitted correctly
- Carrier processing timelines
Most ports are completed within 3–10 business days, though some carriers may take longer. Weekends and holidays are not included in these estimates.
⚙️ How it works
Typical Porting Timeframes
These timelines begin once your new/gaining carrier successfully submits the port request.
- Wireless numbers: Typically complete in 3 business days
- Landline numbers from major carriers: Usually complete in 7 business days
- Numbers from smaller carriers: May take 10–20 business days
➡️ NumberBarn numbers are classified as wireline/landline numbers
If a Port Request is Rejected
If the gaining/new carrier submits incorrect or incomplete information, the request will be rejected.

📌 Things to Know
Business Days Only
- Porting timelines are calculated using business days only.
- Weekends and holidays are not included.
Expedited Ports
NumberBarn cannot expedite Port Away requests.
If faster processing is needed:
- Contact Your New/Gaining Carrier Directly
- Ask If They Support Expedited Processing
Submitting accurate porting credentials helps avoid delays.
Keep Your Current Service Active
Your NumberBarn account and number must remain active during the entire Port Away process.
Do not:
- Cancel the Service or NumberBarn account
- Delete the number from your NumberBarn account
Until the port completes successfully.
Billing Stops After the Port Completes
Once the number ports away successfully:
- The number is removed from your account
- Billing stops automatically
Some Numbers May Require Additional Approval
Toll-free and Canadian number ports may require:
- Manual Approval
- Email Verification
- Additional Security Confirmation
Failure to respond to approval emails may result in rejection.
