🔍 Before You Begin
What you will need:
- A payment method
- A phone number you’d like to purchase
- A mobile phone number that can receive text messages, in case your order requires additional verification
Before selecting a number, consider:
- Activation time frame
- Rate center compatibility (for future porting)
- Whether the number is local, toll-free, or global
- Whether you plan to keep the number with NumberBarn or port it away later
What are purchased phone numbers used for?
Purchasing a phone number allows you to:
- Own the phone number
- Use it with NumberBarn services
- Port it to another phone carrier
- Use it for personal, business, marketing, or branding purposes
- Secure a memorable, vanity, local, toll-free, or global number
📋 Steps
1️⃣ Search for a Phone Number | ||
| 1 | Go to the NumberBarn.com Marketplace and search for available numbers. |

2️⃣ Add a Number to Your Cart | ||
| 2 | Choose the number(s) you’d like to purchase. | |
| 3 | Add the number(s) to your cart. |
➡️ The number will be temporarily reserved for 30 minutes. Each number has its own timer, starting when you click Add to Cart. |
| (3a) Checkout via the link on the phone number or from your shopping cart at the top right corner of the page. |

3️⃣ Choose a Service Plan | ||
| 4 | Select a service plan for the phone number. All purchased numbers require an active plan. |

4️⃣ Enter Account Info | ||

Enter all required information for your NumberBarn account (6e) If you do not already have a NumberBarn account, create one by entering an Email Address and Password (6f) Click the Continue button when done |
➡️ Password requires 6+ characters, an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, and at least 2 numbers |

Review your Account Information and Order Summary

➡️ The summary lists a setup fee and any monthly plan cost, each with an expandable Taxes line covering applicable regulatory fees, such as a state P.U.C. fee, the Federal Universal Service Fund, and a Federal Cost Recovery Charge. |

➡️ Your card issuer may ask you to verify the purchase with a one-time code sent to your phone, separate from NumberBarn. Enter the code to continue |
6️⃣ Complete Additional Verification | ||

➡️ Some orders require extra verification before they can be completed. If your order needs this, you will see a message right after checkout letting you know, and your card will not be charged until verification is finished. If your order does not need this, you will not receive a verification email, and your number begins processing right away, skip ahead to 7️⃣ Wait for Activation step. |

| 13 | If asked, enter a mobile phone number, then select Send Code | |
| 14 | Enter the confirmation code sent by text message. | |
| 15 | Once your phone number is verified, click the Pay to charge the card on file button and finish activating your account |
➡️ If you do not complete this verification within 8 days of checkout, your account is automatically deleted and the order does not process |
7️⃣ Wait for Activation | ||
| 7 | Your number must activate before it can be used or ported to another carrier. |

✅ What's Next
- Your new number shows as Processing on your Numbers page while the order is being completed
- Once it is active in your account and you receive the confirmation email, you are the owner of a new phone number.
- Log in to your NumberBarn account to start using your phone number, or contact a new phone carrier to port your number to their service
