💡 What Is It?
International rates are the per minute surcharges that apply when a call forwards to a destination outside the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Use this article to understand what is included, how charges are billed, and how to look up a rate. For outbound calls, ▶️ See Dialer Overview 📖
⚙️ How It Works
Included Destinations
Some destinations are included at no extra charge. There is no fixed list, because it depends on carrier costs. The US, Canada, and Puerto Rico are always included.
Per Minute Rates
All other supported destinations carry a per minute surcharge. Rates can differ within one country, for example between landline and mobile numbers. Calls are billed in whole minutes, and each call rounds up to the next full minute.
Unsupported Destinations
Some destinations cannot be forwarded to or called, for example because of very high carrier costs or carrier restrictions. No rate applies.
Look Up a Rate
Look up a destination on the International Rates page at numberbarn.com/international-rates.
While setting up forwarding, the rate also appears below the number field.

How Charges Are Billed
The surcharge for each phone number appears on its bill as "International usage," separate from the plan's usage charge. International minutes also count toward the plan's included minutes, the same as any other call. Open the details of a call on the Calls page to see its surcharge.
📌 Things to Know
Rates Can Change
Rates are based on carrier costs and change over time. An email notice is sent when the rate changes for a destination that a phone number forwards to. If a destination becomes unsupported, the forwarding number is removed from the phone number.
Charged Destinations Need Activation
Destinations with a per-minute rate require international forwarding to be enabled on the account. Contact support to enable it.
